The Prime Minister today meets with President Obama in the Oval office amid growing signs that Russia could be ready to take a tougher line with the Syrian regime.
Mr Cameron said his trip to Sochi to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin had been "extremely positive".
The Prime Minister wants the UK and America to work together with Russia to help form a transitional government in Syria in a bid to end the 27-month conflict.
The Prime Minister said he was "heartened" following his talks with President Putin, who has vetoed a series of UN resolutions on Syria.
He said there is "strong unity of purpose between Britain and America" that the Syrian rebels battling Bashar al-Assad should be assisted as much as possible by the West.
